NAMING OUR CATHEDRAL

This weekend is your final chance to provide
feedback on the shortlist of names for our new cathedral. Bishop Michael invites you to review the seven remaining candidates, read their profiles and consider the suggested reasoning. The information is on the diocesan website and on posters in parishes. People are invited to provide up to three names that they support for the cathedral. Submissions must be received by Sunday, 7th July and can be made via https://cdoc.nz/cathedral or you can request a paper form from your parish. Please continue to pray for this important step on the cathedral journey.

DIOCESAN YEAR OF PRAYER CONFERENCE

Pope Francis has declared 2024 as a Year of Prayer as a lead up to the Jubilee Year in 2025. The Christchurch Diocese is holding a Conference on Saturday July 27th to mark this year. The theme of the conference is “Lord, teach us to pray” and will involve Mass, Prayer, workshops, keynote talks and more. The Conference is being held in Ashburton at the Holy Name Catholic Church and the Sinclair Centre. The cost $59 includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. VACANCY - CLERGY HEALTH COORDINATOR 

The Bishop has an oversight over the wellbeing of his priests. On his behalf, the Clergy Trust Fund seeks to employ a Health Coordinator to ensure their medical welfare and general well-being are supported.

A vacancy now exists for this part-time position. The successful candidate will have a nursing practising certificate and the ability to be flexible with his / her time to be able to provide an excellent service.

This is an important position in the care of our priests. Having an affinity with the Catholic faith, the Coordinator will have the ability to relate to the priests in their overall health needs. The Clergy Health Coordinator will visit and meet with clergy to make assessments and to provide the necessary support, advice and guidance.

INFORM SURVEY

The Diocese is conducting a survey of readers

of its quarterly magazine, Inform, to help guide considerations about how to refine and improve the publication. It is the first survey that has been conducted in many years and people’s participation would be warmly welcomed. The survey can be completed online at https://cdoc.nz/news-events/in... It is also printed on the back page of the magazine, which is in parishes now. The survey will conclude 30th August.

SPIRIT OF MERCY NGĀ WAHINE ATAWHAI 

Feature Film will be screening at Lumiere Cinema Christchurch at 4pm Sunday, 27th September. In 1918 the Sisters of Mercy founded Villa Maria School with 9 pupils in an old house on 16 acres in the country near Christchurch. This film explores the story of the Sisters of Mercy of Christchurch and their pupils, and how they engaged in the world with the kaupapa of mercy.
