Letter regarding Te Rangimārie Māori Catholic Chaplaincy

After a period of consultation with the Te Rangimārie Māori Catholic chaplaincy, that community has accepted Bishop Michael's invitation to relocate to the new cathedral precinct. The chaplaincy considered options for the period before the cathedral opens, and has chosen to move its liturgical home to St Mary's Pro-Cathedral from December 7.

The final Miha Māori at the Te Rangimarie Centre will be celebrated on Sunday, November 30. All sacred objects, furnishings and taonga will be respectfully removed for use in other sacred spaces or placed in ecclesiastical custody. The future of the land and the Te Rangimārie Centre remains under discernment as the Diocese consults with mana whenua and key advisory groups.
