The Catholic Diocese of Christchurch employs chaplains at Christchurch Hospital, Christchurch Women’s Hospital, The Princess Margaret Hospital and Hillmorton Hospital.
Hospital Chaplaincy is primarily there to ensure that people have the opportunity to receive the sacraments and pastoral care. It is also seen as an expression of the care of the church for those in need in terms of health.
The presence of the chaplaincy team is a source of inspiration and solace to people when they are unwell. They are also a support for the relatives and staff of the hospital.
