Catholic Youth Team – Diocesan Youth Minister

Are you passionate about helping young people encounter Christ and His Church?
We’re looking for an engaging and faith-filled Diocesan Youth Minister to join our team, supporting youth and young adult ministry across the Diocese of Christchurch.

About the Role

Working alongside the Diocesan Youth Ministry Co-ordinator, this role helps bring the Bishop’s vision for ministry with young people to life across our schools and parishes. A key focus is supporting the rollout of the Catholic Schools Youth Ministry International (CSYMI) model, helping to form and mentor student leaders, facilitate retreats, and journey alongside our young people.

You’ll also help plan and deliver key diocesan youth events such as Antioch, Revolution and the Youth Ministry Equipping School, as well as youth Masses and gatherings that invite young people into deeper faith and community.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the introduction, delivery, and growth of the CSYMI model in participating schools.
  • Journey alongside young people in our Catholic Colleges, supporting them in faith and mission.
  • Facilitate leadership training, mentoring, and faith formation opportunities for students in our Catholic Colleges.
  • Help deliver diocesan youth events and camps, and recruit and support volunteers.
  • Work collaboratively with principals, DRSs, chaplains, teachers, and parish leaders.
  • Encourage pathways for young people to take an active role in parish and diocesan life..

Position Details

Hours: Full-time, permanent (37.5 hours per week). This role does contain weekend and evening work as required to meet the needs of the Ministry. Travel around the Diocese (and occasionally outside) is a requirement of the role.

Start date: Monday 26 January 2026 (or earlier by negotiation)
