DIOCESAN EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION AND HOLY HOUR

As we journey through the Jubilee Year as pilgrims of hope, Bishop Michael invites all to a Diocesan Eucharistic Procession and Holy Hour on the feast of Corpus Christi – Sun, Jun 22 at St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral. This solemnity marks the ‘solemn commemoration of the institution of the Eucharist’ – the source and summit of the Catholic Faith. Beginning at 1.30pm, the celebration will include adoration, a procession around the streets, prayers and songs. As the Pro-Cathedral is a Jubilee Sacred Site, you will also be able to gain the Jubilee Indulgence by fulfilling the necessary conditions. “Freedom to Be Loved & to Love as Women” is the theme for the retreat. Starting at Genesis where our knots were tied up through Eve, we will journey with the Lord allowing Him to untie the lies of the enemy; concluding with Mary who shows us how to be loved and love freely as a woman.

“The Spirit blows where He wills; you hear His voice, but you know neither where He comes from, nor where He is going! (cf. Jn 3:7-8).” Let us learn to walk in the Spirit.

Jubilate 2025 is Under Way

Christchurch South and West begin this year’s series, bringing together their parish and school choirs for an hour of sacred singing. Along with shared singing, this hour will feature Christchurch choirs and musicians. All are welcome to join in singing and supporting our featured choirs.

When? Tuesday May 27 from 7.00 to 8.00pm.

All welcome and admission is free.

REVOLUTION CAMP

After a sell-out camp in 2023 and 2024, Revolution Camp is back for 2025! An inspiring speaker, an incredible house band and all the usual camp favourites will be on the menu for Year 7-9 students from 27-29 June. PARISH PENTECOST MISSION

International speaker, author, and founder of the order ‘Missionaries of God’s Love’, Fr Ken Barker will lead Cathedral Parish in a Parish Pentecost Mission. On Wednesday afternoon there is an afternoon session that others in the Diocese might like to attend: Wednesday 4th June 1-2:30pm

CHRISTCHURCH DIOCESAN JUBILEE PILGRIMAGE TO NORTHLAND

In this year of Jubilee, one of the exciting opportunities the Christchurch Diocese is offering is a Diocesan 6-day pilgrimage to the sacred places at the very foundation of the Catholic Faith in New Zealand. As ‘pilgrims of hope’, the pilgrimage will begin in Auckland and will explore the sites of the first missionaries that brought the faith to this country.

The pilgrimage is being held Oct 26 – 31, 2025. Places are limited. Matt O’Connell is leading the tour and there will be a priest chaplain. Bishop Michael will also join the pilgrimage for two days. MASS OF THE NEOPHYTES

On Sun, the 25th of May at 11 am at St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral, Bishop Michael will be celebrating the Mass of the Neophytes (newly baptised and received into the Catholic faith) to give thanks and praise to God for the wonderful gift received at Easter. All are welcome to support these ‘new Catholics’ and celebrate their journey of faith.
